What is therapy like?
Therapy offers a safe and confidential space for you to express your true feelings without the fear of judgment, hurting someone’s feelings, or damaging relationships. It’s a supportive environment where you can explore aspects of yourself that may have been overlooked, ignored, or suppressed.
In this space, you have the opportunity to heal, grow, and gain a deeper understanding of who you are, which can bring relief and personal transformation. It can often feel like a space to just talk and explore, without any plans or expectations, often this is all that is needed to see and feel the longer-term change; therapy often takes time.
What will we do?
Each person is unique, and I approach therapy with the understanding that everyone’s experience is different. Because of this, our work together will be tailored to your needs and individual circumstances. Our 50-minute sessions will focus entirely on you—your thoughts, your emotions, your past, your relationships, and your challenges. You steer the direction of our discussions, and my role is to offer reflection, insight, support, and guidance as you navigate these explorations.
What benefits can be expected?
Together, we will work to understand the root causes of your distress or challenges, helping you develop a “personal toolkit” filled with your own strengths. This toolkit will include a clearer understanding of your triggers and behaviours, and the ability to make empowered choices that support your well-being.
Ultimately, therapy is about fostering self-reliance and self-compassion. The benefits of therapy may extend to various areas of your life, such as:
• Reducing anxiety
• Managing stress
• Enhancing mood
• Boosting self-esteem
• Improving relationships, including sexual ones
• Easing emotional pain and suffering
• Building resilience to face trauma, grief, or difficult emotions
Keep in mind, therapy can be a challenging process, so it’s important to approach it with self-compassion and recognise the courage it takes to seek support.
How long will it take before I start feeling better?
Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process. Each person’s journey is unique, and the time it takes to feel better depends on individual circumstances, including your personal history, challenges, and goals. I offer open-ended therapy, taking an in-depth approach to understand your past and how it influences your present. This exploration is essential for creating lasting change. While progress varies, the insights gained along the way can lead to meaningful, long-term improvements in your life.
